Jimmy Santiago Baca and a group of Cedar Tree interns will be traveling to Oklahoma City in September to conduct writing workshops in a women's prison. A Cedar Tree camera crew will be on hand to film the event.
Cedar Tree, Inc., in conjunction with the University of New Mexico's Department of Education, is developing a writing workshop curriculum that will be available, along with an anthology and documentary films, for use by educators across North America. The curriculum will allow educators to implement Cedar Tree's humanistic, compassion-based approach in workshops of their own.
Congratulations to the students of New Futures High School for young mothers, who designed, edited, and published an anthology of their writing in May. Entitled Mujeristas 2008, the collection prominently features the poetry of Cedar Tree workshop participants.
Cedar Tree, Inc. is within weeks of completing it's third documentary, Lost Voices.
